Introduction 

This document will provide you the explanation of Portions and how it can be used to configure menu in Plum POS

Portions can be defined as how much of a food you are served or how much you eat. A portion size can vary from meal to meal.

For any food item, there is a defined recipe for it which includes different ingredients in it which can be customised by the customer. For example, Extra pepperoni for a pizza modification which means an extra portion of pepperoni is required.

How to add a Portion Group ?

Users can add various Portion Groups in its organization depending upon the modification he wants to make on the modifiers as per the menu.

To add a Portion Group, user needs to click on “Add” button in the summary screen of Portions and then the following pop-up will be displayed.

Here, when the user will enter the name of Portion Group, and click on Save, then the following detail screen will be displayed: 

Adding Portions to the Group

User now needs to add the Portions that he wants to assign to this respective Portion Group.

Following fields are displayed for which details should be entered and click on Save to add it

For example: If the user has entered the Recipe Factor as 0.5, this means that if the user has selected this portion for any modifier, then that modifier will be added 50% of its normal quantity for a menu item when used as a recipe.

For example: If the price of the modifier is $1 and the percentage configured is 50% for the portion group detail, then in that case if user has ordered the modifier with the portion, then the pricing on the IPA for that modifier will be $0.5 as per the percentage configured in the portion group.

After entering all the details, the user must click “Save” to store the added portions. Clicking the “Back” [button] will navigate the user to the summary screen, where all the added Portion Groups will be displayed.
