Introduction
This document will outline in detail steps that are required to create a forced question in Plum POS web.
What are forced questions and their types?
A “forced question” on a restaurant menu is a prompt that requires the customer to respond or make a selection when placing an order. These questions are typically designed to help the customer choose specific options or personalize their meal. For instance, a menu may present questions such as “Would you like to add fries to your burger?” or “How would you like your steak prepared?” A response is usually necessary before finalizing the order, ensuring that the dish aligns with the customer’s preferences and specifications.
Types of Forced Questions:
There are four types of forced questions which are offered by Plum POS for menu item customizations as mentioned below:
Regular FQ: A forced question that is used to assign on menu items for their customizations configured with minimum/maximum selection limit.
Substitute: Substitute forced question is used to select only one modifier/menu item at a time which helps in alternating among the selected modifiers.
Pack: A forced question with collection of menu items that allows repetition of the same forced question, enabling the selection of items multiple times in a single transaction.
Combo: A forced question used for configuring combo menu groups or items, allowing the combination of multiple components into a single selection.
Note:
- Users can assign both the modifiers and menu items in all types of forced questions mentioned above.
- Regular FQ can be assigned to modifiers directly while Pack and Combo assigned is applicable to menu items only.
- Substitute forced questions can be assigned to both menu items or modifiers with a condition that it must be assigned to a Regular FQ.
- For assigning items within a forced question of type “Combo” , the items or modifiers must be created in Plum POS web application before assignment.
